June 27th 2014 update:

The New York City Council met on June 26th, 2014. A local law in relation to the naming of 63 thoroughfares and public places, including Sergei Dovlatov Way was passed. It is now in the Enacted status and moves on to the Mayor’s Desk for Signature. We continue to closely follow the situation and will update you once the law is signed.

On Monday June 23rd 2014, New York City Committee on Parks and Recreation recommended Sergei Dovlatov Way among others for the general City Council vote. We do not have an approval yet, however we passed the first vote.

“T2014-1360; Naming of 63 thoroughfares and public places.” final vote will take place on June 26th 2014. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

April 10th 2014 update:

Thank you to everyone for supporting our project. Your signatures and letters is the reason why the New York City Council considered our application. Overwhelming public support was crucial.

On April 7, 2014 we were pleased to learn that the City Council was ready to receive all the necessary documentation for the street naming from us.  Documents have been submitted. The City Council recently requested that no more petitions should be sent to their office since now we are awaiting the vote.

We all really hope for Sergei Dovlatov Way street name to grace Forest Hills.
